Children's Water Safety Awareness provides the opportunity for children in our area to attend professional swimming lessons free of charge. All we ask is that parents take advantage of our free sign-ups at any of our functions, whether it be a fund raising event, a monthly meeting, or at a speaking event. Check our website for a schedule of these events, or simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
In the Summer of 2017 and 2018, we partnered with multiple facilities in the Houma-Terrebonne area and were able to provide swimming lessons for over 100 children. In 2019 we are actively looking to expand our efforts to include additional facilities in the area, as well as expanding to surrounding parishes and communities.
We also offer free CPR lessons to parents, grand-parents, and family members. In 2017 and 2018, we gave CPR classes to over 50 adults free of charge. Simply sign up at any of our events or meetings and we will schedule your free professional CPR classes.
Life Jacket Trade Up Program
Boating accidents are too common for comfort in our area, and regardless of how experienced your captain is, things can happen. That is why we want to do our part to make sure that all children have the proper size life jacket available to them. An improper fitting or incorrect size life jacket is just as dangerous as not have any type of flotation.
We have started our LIFE JACKET 4 LIFE campaign which allows parents to purchase am proper fitting coast guard-approved life jacket for their child, and can trade it in as needed as the child grows.
The cost for this program is a $25 minimum donation to CWSA per child. Your child will be fitted prior to receiving their first jacket, and will also be fitted each time they trade up to the next size.
Note** This program ONLY includes CWSA branded and numbered life jackets. We unfortunately do not accept any other life jackets for trade at this time.
